  Ethical dilemma:

Wonderful Tamil Sri Lankan family owned business right across the street from the AI office. Really nice people, good selection of hard to find Sri Lankan food and spices, and cheap heat-and-eat veggie food perfect for lunch.

The challenge - a picture of Prabakharan on the wall - in military garb, the knowledge that most of the LTTE's funding comes from foreign remittances, and some first-hand information that the call for donations has recently gone out to the community, suggesting a rearmament period.
If I wouldn't buy from there, would I buy from a store in Sri Lanka that had a picture of Rajapaksa on the wall? Is it better to wear the military garb, or to wear feigned Buddhist virtue as a cover for a self-righteous militant approach?

Thoughts?

Hi Brodie... How are you? It's me, Osório, back from Brazil. I think you remember me, don't you?
I've sent you one e-mail, maybe you didn't receive it, that's why I'm here now.
Your posts are very nice indeed. I like very much to read news about you.
I laughed very much of your commments about the Norwegian friend we met in Berlin.
Hope to see you soon.
Good luck. Zói.

Its probably only effective if you tell the people why you are not doing any business with them. But yeah, good call man....

Why don't you ask them? What the picture stands for, and why they have it on their wall? Hear their story, and engage them in a conversation about what you know, and why you don't agree with their "support" of the group. Afterall, one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. It all depends on how you look at it no? I don't know enough about the situation in Sri Lanka, but I would be curious to know what their thoughts are. So if I were in your position, I would talk to them.

Well... I think that issue is quite more complicate. But for complicate issues the best are simple answers (vide Aleksander).

If you like their food, just buy it...

Hi Brodie!

Well, its definitely an ethical dilemma in a situation that's become so complicated with so many emotions, misunderstandings, miscommunications, political back dealings and finger pointing.

here's a thought: how do you know another say, restaurant, that doesnt display a picture is not supporting either the ltte or the extreme buddhists? they could be, they couldn't be. but would you still buy food from them? or none at all from any place?

there is no black and white, as i'm sure u know, just shades of grey and more grey. i really hope the peace talks go well but i'm not holding my breath.

cheers from France! :)
