Just learned my brother, Colin, is now living on a pirate ship. Yes, a pirate ship. Okay, so it's a bit of a converted pirate ship that's now permanently at dock (I think), as a historical artifact, but it still used to be a pirate ship. It's now docked in Victoria harbour (a beautiful small city on Vancouver Island off the West coast of Canada).
Working at Greenpeace, actively looking into the issues around GMOs and free trade and human rights issues, after a year of kayak guiding and snowboard instructing in New Zealand, and now... a pirate ship. I'm just waiting for the day when he joins
these guys (a group he told me about that is enforcing the laws around whaling sanctuaries that the international community doesn't care to enforce - definitely not the only solution, but unfortunately I think a necessary one until we wake up).
Colin is one incredible guy, and one day him and I just might join our yin-yang complementariness and see what we can do...
